[toggle title=”Where is The ChainStay located?” state=”close”]The ChainStay is located in the heart of the Flemish Ardennes in the district of Bevere within the city of Oudenaarde in East Flanders.
We are 1km from the train station, 2kms from the city center which boasts numerous shops, restaurants, and cafes, a summer beer festival, the Tour of Flanders museum, numerous food shops, and most importantly we are centrally located to some awesome training roads (from the hills of the Flemish Ardennes, to the flat vehicle free canal roads).[/toggle]
[toggle title=”Can anyone stay at The ChainStay?” state=”close”]While there are no requirements to stay at The ChainStay, our cycling development house is set up for cyclists and cycling enthusiasts so we recommend that you at least have some passion to be around the sport. The large majority of guests are racing cyclists aged 18-30, though we have had masters level racers, and tourists. Guests can stay for any length of time that they wish, though we typically do not have short term availability (less than 10 days) during our peak period in the middle of the summer (but you’ll never know if you don’t ask).[/toggle]
[toggle title=”What about group bookings?” state=”close”]We consider group bookings to be 6 or more, and highly encourage you to contact us early (ideally 6+months in advance). It can be quite difficult to squeeze in a group booking in the middle of existing bookings, which is why we encourage you to let us know before we open up bookings to individuals.
Group rates will be for shared accommodation for groups, and will require a down payment at the time of reservation. Contact us to find out more on our group booking policies.[/toggle]
[toggle title=”What is the easiest way to access The ChainStay?” state=”close”]If you are arriving by plane, more than likely you will be landing in Brussels Zaventem. From the airport you will take a short 10 minute train to one of the three Brussels stations where you will board another train to Oudenaarde (in the direction of Poperinge or Kortrijk). Once at the train station we are happy to arrange for a pick up.
If you are traveling by car we are located just off of the N60 reachable via the E17 South via the E40 from Oostende or E40 from Brussels.
Pick up or drop off from the airport must be arranged ahead of time for a fee of €70.00.[/toggle]
[toggle title=”What are the requirements for using the vehicle?” state=”close”]Drivers must be 21 years of age or older with a valid and fully certified drivers license, and must be able to operate a manual transmission. The vehicle seats 9 passengers, and priority is given to guests who are traveling to a race over errands/day trips. The vehicle is not typically available for overnight trips or trips to major cities (where parking can be difficult due to height restrictions). All passengers share responsibility for fuel and mileage, and the driver must record the dates and times of usage.[/toggle]
[toggle title=”Can I have something sent to the house before my arrival or during my stay?” state=”close”]Not a problem, just let us know when to expect it. Keep in mind there might be import duties or processing fees applied. You will be responsible for these fees.[/toggle]
[toggle title=”Why do you need a booking deposit?” state=”close”]Our cycling development house is small so cancellations are not guaranteed, therefore it is not in our policy to overbook riders. Your booking deposit acts as a contract between you and us that you are booking in good faith and do not intend to cancel your booking. Any cancellations even 2 months in advance are not only unfair to us, but to the many people whom we’ve had to turn away. All cancellations are subject to the loss of the full amount of your booking deposit, provided that we are unable to fill your space; No exceptions.
Your booking deposit also acts as a damage deposit – and therefore will not go towards your housing rate. Instead the deposit will be returned to you upon your departure, given that no damage was caused to the house, vehicle or other guests by you, and you have incurred no speeding fines while using the house vehicle.[/toggle]
